02 — Origin Story

Morina was born from a single obsession: a truffle should arrive as alive as the moment it left the earth. Not a warehouse relic. Not an afterthought wrapped in damp paper.

Our founders spent three seasons walking the forests of Umbria, Istria, and the Périgord — building trust with the hunters who wake before the sun to work alongside their Lagotto Romagnolo dogs.

Today, 47 hunters across six countries dig to our specification: aroma first, firmness second, appearance last. Anything that would not stop a chef mid-sentence does not ship.

Aroma first. Firmness second. Beauty never outranks freshness. We still pay the hunter when we reject the truffle — so they stay honest.

The cold chain is sacred.

Hunters on retainer, boxes at +2°C, couriers booked before the market opens. The box never sees ambient air above 4°C.

The pact: ship only loud truffles.

If the box opens quiet, we refund it and send the next dig. This has happened 0.03% of the time in 2025.
